About Falcon Contract Flooring
Falcon Contract Flooring has been soaring to new heights for the last 30 years with lots of new business and some exciting new contracts being added to the customer database year on year.
As the company prepares to go global with projects overseas in 2020, we look at how the company started, how it has grown and meet the people behind the business.
Those who work at Falcon don’t class themselves as employees however, everyone is part of the Falcon family
Falcon started life in 1984 when now chairman Ian Hassall joined two men and a van in a bid to bring a more structured and organised way of working.
Fast forward to 2013, sons Charles and Tom have now joined and taken over 90% of the business as it goes from strength to strength. It now boasts more than 30 employees and more than 100 installers. Falcon recently celebrated the opening of its’ second site in Bromsgrove and were incredibly proud to win the National Small Family Business of the Year 2019.
Working for Falcon means more than simply being a member of staff - when you join Falcon you become part of the Falcon family.
The firm is run by members of the Hassall family but everyone who pulls on a Falcon shirt and joins the company is considered part of a very special firm.
With excellent working conditions, office treats and away days, it is easy to see why those who join the company stay with the company.
Falcon has come a long way from being just two men and a van.
Not only does the company have an impressive list of satisfied clients but it is an exciting time for the firm as it prepares to expand both into Europe and open its’ first satellite office in USA in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2020.
Year on year, Falcon aim for 30% growth; a target they have not only achieved, but have smashed. For the recent financial year 2018-2019, Falcon achieved a huge growth of 46%, something everybody is incredibly proud of and aim to improve even more next year.
Going the extra mile
It is not just fulfilling contracts on time and on budget which drives clients back to Falcon time after time.
The company prides itself on providing support and a service around the clock.
Where else would you find staff who will respond to remedial works or repairs out of hours? But when you are a busy hotel damaged rooms mean lost revenue and that is why we are always on hand.
When it comes to supporting the local community, Falcon are also always happy to help whether it’s being a part of helping a young family as part of the TV programme DIY SOS or providing support when the local church needed new flooring but had no funding.
At FCF we continuously endeavour to keep our Company ‘green’. All our wasted carpet is brought back to HQ1 by our installers where it is sorted and separated, compressed and baled. The baled carpet is stored and then transported and turned to Energy which powers various sites and locations.
With the amount of waste carpet we generate, we hold ourselves accountable to where this waste carpet goes, how it’s dealt with and how our environment and community is affected.
With grand plans set in place for the future we hope to be able to ‘close the loop’ on our waste. This is achieved by recycling all our waste in-house, transforming our carpet back into underlay, Our vinyl back into safety cones that we use on site, Our plastic into waste bags for us to use around the sites. This is only the start of our R&D plans for recycling.

We are thrilled to announce a new training programme which will be rolled out in 2020 following the success of our first ever trainee Dan who is now a fully-fledged Falcon!
Our new programme will not just allow school leavers the opportunity to join our ranks and learn on the job but those looking for a career change or to be given a second chance in life will also be invited to apply.
Although our aim to create the best installer, our trainee’s will have the opportunity to spend time in every sector of the business, learning everything from Finance, to procurement, to Project Management and much more.
Falcon Contract Flooring are the proud winners of two awards.
In 2018, Managing director Charles won Entrepreneur of the year in Family Business 2018. The team enjoyed a night at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, being entertained by guests including Wynne Evans; better known as Gio Compario or ‘The Go Compare Opera man’. Charles was delighted to win such a special prize and the whole team were incredibly proud to see Charles take home the much-deserved award.
In the summer of 2019, the team travelled to The Mayfair, London where we took home the award for National Family Business of the Year 2019. The team were proud to have been recognised for their success having started as two men in a van, to now become one of the UK’s biggest flooring contractor. The whole family celebrated the win in style.
Big name brands, interior designers and architects throughout the UK and Europe rely on Falcon because it has proven time and again it has knowledge, expertise and innovation, as well as an ability to deliver to a deadline.
Falcon value the customer like they value their staff. They aim to inspire people to do what inspires them!
You don’t have to be mad to work here but it helps! At Falcon we don’t just fit flooring, we like to have fun.
From away days to Fat Friday Lunches, charity events and competitions - Falcon is the family that works together, plays together and stays together!
